The blue CueTouch controls will illuminate in iPod mode, they mimic the controls around the scroll wheel on the iPod/iPhone, and can be used to control the basic functions of the iPod/iPhone. You can also use the Cue remote to access iPod/iPhone functions. Any case or shell must be removed for the iPod/iPhone to dock properly. Make sure your iPhone/iPod always has the latest firmware update available at Apple’s iTunes. The hardware in the Cue radio is built to perform its best with the latest firmware updates of the iPhone/iPod. Not doing so can cause unwanted miscommunication between the iPhone/iPod and the r1.

Connect an external device for playback through the r1: turn off the r1 (attaching an external device while the r1 is on can cause dammage to the driver and electronics), plug a 1/8" stereo cable into the AUX input on the back of the r1 (you need a stereo 1/8” cord, 2 rings on tip, to get stereo imaging from an external device. If it’s a mono 1/8" cord, 1 ring on tip, it won’t be true stereo), turn the r1 on, turn the Mode knob to "Aux", press and release to select, play the connected device, adjust the r1's volume if needed.

The cue radio is not self-serviceable and any attempt to do so voids the warranty.
